“I took a short patrol North of Naujaat. As the elders are saying now, they used to go up inland to go fishing at Thanksgiving weekend with snowmobile, but every year is different now. The lakes are not even frozen as of today, caribou are late, saw a goose the other day and it is only the middle of October now.”

“Went fishing and caribou hunting. I found an old net in the lake and pulled it out. I only saw caribou yesterday and today. I caught a few fish this morning and brought some to a few elders. They were so happy to receive the fish they had been craving for a while.”

“Our bay is still open water and winds are going to 80 south tonight and tomorrow so ice won’t form for another few days for sure. Went for a ride west of  Naujaat, and saw a guy who caught caribou. I helped him skin the caribou and when we started to go home he had snowmobile problems so I towed his sleds. Just about when we got home his snowmobile ran out of gas so I helped him get home.”

“We brought a family back from Hall Beach to Naujaat, weather got bad in a white out blizzard but we made it back to a cabin before it got too bad. Was a 9 hr trip going up and 4.5 hours going back.”

“I want to thank the Sapujiyiit for helping us out just before Victoria long weekend. One of my skidoos was broken, as well as Darrell Ukalik’s from Sanirayak, so Paul Angutetuar and John Kadjuk tried to bring Darrell back to Sanirayak. I very much appreciate your help and support when we really needed help to get back to Igloolik and Sanirayak.”

“Successful pickup last night near Coral Harbour. A guy needed medical attention. Although it was choppy we were able to get it done and take him back. John Nakoolak and I took part and honestly a lot of our training came back to reality. A little over 3 hours to get back but luckily he was stable all the way except he had a very minor seizure”.
